How is Ethiopia transforming its electricity and digital networks?
Published on
The RISED project (Renewable, Integrated, Sustainable Energy & Digitalisation) supports Ethiopia’s electricity-sector transformation through four pillars: grid modernisation and rehabilitation, digitalisation, renewable energy generation and capacity strengthening.
This project also includes the expansion of Ethiopian Electric Power’s (EEP) fibre-optic network to improve grid operations and help extend broadband connectivity. The project aims to improve access to energy and broadband data while supporting employment and more sustainable and inclusive growth. Co-financed notably by Agence Française de Développement and the European Union under Global Gateway, RISED will benefit EEP, telecom operators, the private sector and, ultimately, the Ethiopian population.
