This collection invites you to discover a selection of emblematic projects supported by AFD Group on climate and biodiversity issues.
What is a climate project? How does it meet a need in a given region? What is its impact on the fight against climate change and in the field and for its recipients?
AFD Group mobilizes a comprehensive range of tools including loans, grants, credit lines, and technical assistance, all designed to respond to a wide variety of economic situations. We also support the implementation of sustainable public policies through the mobilization of French and European expertise.
These projects are implemented in all the regions where AFD Group operates: Africa, Latin America, Asia, and the Caribbean. They concern low-income countries as well as emerging economies and the French Overseas Territories, illustrating the Group’s ability to adapt its responses to each context.
The projects cover a wide range of themes, from reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate change to protecting and restoring terrestrial and marine ecosystems. Some focus entirely on these objectives, while others integrate them into related fields such as health, agriculture or urban planning, since the ecological transition concerns all sectors.
This brochure attempts to illustrate the multitude of sectors and geographical areas covered by AFD’s initiatives through projects carefully selected by the project teams and offices of the AFD network.
