How is indonesia protecting its coasts and communities from climate risks?

Published on

In Indonesia, an archipelago particularly exposed to climate-related risks, improving marine weather forecasts is essential to protect communities and support maritime activities.

Through the second phase of the Marine Meteorology System programme (MMS2), AFD is supporting BMKG, Indonesia's Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency, alongside CLS, to strengthen its capacity for marine weather observation, modelling and data dissemination.

The project combines innovative technologies, advanced forecasting models and staff training. Its goal is to provide more accurate and accessible weather information to coastal communities, blue economy stakeholders and researchers, while supporting sustainable maritime development.
