In Mali, following developments in the political and security situation, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs announced on November 16, 2022 the suspension of France’s official development assistance to the country. AFD therefore suspended all new financing in Mali in November 2022 and closed almost all of the projects it had been financing there.

In Niger, in light of the current political situation, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs announced on July 29, 2023 the suspension of France’s official development assistance to the country. AFD therefore suspended all new financing in Niger and is in the process of closing almost all of the projects it had been financing there.

In Burkina Faso, amid changes in the political situation, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs announced on August 6, 2023 the suspension of France’s official development assistance to the country. AFD therefore suspended all new financing in Burkina Faso and is in the process of closing almost all of the projects it had been financing there.
