The energy transition is opening new development opportunities, driven by the growing demand for green technologies. Yet developing countries often remain confined to the role of raw-material suppliers, while their mining sectors continue to be strongly influenced by major economic powers.

This webinar will present a recent study that explores the ownership structure of critical-mineral mines and the indirect risks associated with the concentration of their production. The analysis draws on three alternative dimensions of production control, which are then linked to an indicator measuring geo-economic fragmentation.

Finally, we will show how these dynamics shape access to strategic resources and the risks they pose for developing countries.
